Ok- Took the drifter out for some hot laps in the field up the street from my house. Tried to go over a plow pile about 15 feet tall, went at it a little too fast, did a head stand on the hood, and split my original windshield in two! You would that at that point I'd give up and turn around and go back home. NO Way! Well I went over a bunch of deep drifts and was having a lot of fun floating around. I got to an open field area and got on the gas pretty good. All seemed fine until suddenly it just died. I figured it was out of gas. I walked home to get my can. Put the gas in and it fired right up. Went about 1000 feet and it bogged and died again. I'd prime it a time or two and get it to pop but that was about it. Plugs looked fine. Temp outside was about 20deg f. Finally gave up and walked home and got the truck & Trailer.
Where do you think I should start? Carb was cleaned last season. |

Sounds like your fuel pump to me. Pull the line off the carb, pull the spark plugs (just makes it easier to spin - you wouldnt have to do this), then pull it over a few times with the switch off. See if it's pumping fuel.
At least that's where I'd start. |

Clean the carburetor again. Sounds like you may have a float stuck. It is surly in the fuel metering system. Fuel pump pulse line could have fluid in it also.
Wish I could get pictures of stuff like what you wrote. AFV America's Funniest Video would like something like that. |

Check the pick up line in the tank. I have had a fuel pump do that to me before.

After pulling the carb off, giving it a good cleaning, and then pulling off the fuel pump I notice that fuel was not making it from the tank. As everyone always says on this site..............check the simple stuff first! I put a wire hangar into the fuel tank and pulled up the pick up. It had a big ole gooey gob of silicone stuck in it! Pulled it out and it started right up. Time for a new fuel filter!

The only thing I can figure is the previous owner used it to keep the metal pick up on the end of the fuel line. It was on there very loose. One zipp tie on it and its held on tight! I know when I got it two years ago I completely flushed the tank and had no reason to silicone anything.
