Yes, I agree...absolutely.
I cannot say if there is any difference with the Interceptor engine seals being less prone to failure...never owned one, dang it.
But, I acquired a 1982 SkiDoo Blizzard 9500 3 1/2 years ago, and a 1981 Scorpion Sidewinder late last summer.
It is a pain in the neck, but I pulled the engines from both, even though they both ran well.
These things are approaching 40 years of age.
I'm glad I did take the time to tear into the engines. The seals were getting dried out and some small cracks were evident. The tiny springs on the inside of the seals that maintains pressure against the crankshaft were looking a little tired.
I may seize a piston in one of them, but it won't be due to bad crank seals.
I last replaced the seals in my '79 Invader in 2010.....I need to build a homemade pressure tester someday....
As rare as parts (pistons, cylinders) are for an Interceptor......absolutely take the time.
