Going the other way is not as glamorous as it sounds.

Yes it will increase theretical top speed. But in real life the only time you might get there is on a long lake run.
You need lots of time and very little resistance to get them going that fast.

Jashu,

I am in agreement with Lloyd with respect to the speed you can get out of your machine.  In a big picture view a 4 cylinder car geared to go 210mph never makes it to that speed.  The 4 cylinder lacks the horsepower.

In my little weekend oval racing experience I have tried different gear ratio combinations.  I geared to the 2.22 gear ratio in my sled and it got to 68mph FAST, but then not very realistically faster than the 1.86 ratio.  With respect to the race in the long flats other sleds ran around me.  All about the acceleration but the top speed is important.

Mark-
Thats what my plan was originally. Make it different and get up to 60mph real fast. Since reading your post, I find it interesting you say its not significantly faster than 1.86 ratio.

I would still like to try it. The 64 pitch chain I have is junk and I need the pink spring. Until then it will run the 21x39 gears.

Jashu,

Just make a pink spring out of a green spring and then spray it pink if you feel the need.  You need to cut the green's total length such that it is 1/2 inch shorter.

I use a torch to heat the wire (only where it needs formed), blocking with pliers on the coil side.  One set prevents heating the coils the other holding the two coils square with the spring.  Don't let a little spring from trying your experimentation.

If it warms up out here this next week I'll pull a chain from one of my rollers.

Oh wow, seeing this post reminded me that I was in the machine shed today and forgot to look for the 19 tooth gear.  Maybe I can check tomorrow.
