Are these engines the same?

I have a 79 drifter and an 81 John deer sportfire. Drifter engine reads TA440B-B201 and sportfire reads TA440B-C202. Are these engines the same? What does the second series of numbers in the sequences mean? Thanks!

I "think" they are the same. The C in the second set of numbers I "think" was for John Deere?

There might be a very small difference in one crank bearing.
They are basically the same engine.
