1979 Kawasaki Invader 440 project sled
« on: February 03, 2015, 07:50:22 PM »
Hello All!

Purchased my first Kawasaki Invader earlier this winter as a project sled and have a few questions for someone more knowledgeable about them than I am. The sled was in pretty rough shape when I got it and so far i have cleaned it up pretty nice. I have put a new seal and gasket kit in the motor, cleaned the carbs, replaced fuel lines, and replaced carb boots and to my surprise, it runs!

My questions are is there any advantage in swapping the econo jet 36mm mikuni carbs for a set of 38mm non econo carbs on a stock motor for a performance boost? And i have also read that the best clutch set up is a purple spring with B-3 weights? Any thoughts on that? I have also read that the 80/81 invaders had a different exhaust pipe which may have added a few hp, does anyone know this to be true?

Not looking to go completely overboard with this sled(as it is my first project sled), but I would like to make a strong runner out of her.

Any input is appreciated!

Thanks
