4/6 port layout
« on: November 10, 2015, 06:33:52 PM »
does anyone have the stock port layout similar to the one attached for a 4/6 motor.  the attached one is from the shop manual for a 82 LTD.  I have a 4/6 motor that was sleeved with an invader sleeve and it covered the 2 extra transfer ports.  Need to get them cut out.  the layout would help.

If it's in the manual then I have it.  I will take a look tonight.

Do you have an email or number I can text it to?  Not supposed to post copywritten material on here...

thanks gixxer6, but I did get one from a friend who has the 4/6 shop manual.

So, I have the mono head shop manual which has the same port layout and dimensions page.  The intake and exhaust ports on the 4/6, monohead, and invader are nearly identical in size and location. What differs between these 3 engines is the transfer ports.  The 4/6 and mono head have 6 and 8 ports respectively.  When you add the total area, the 4/6 is has slightly more area.   What I find interesting is the ignition curves on the 4/6 and mono head are very different - given the porting is similar and they they have tuned dual exhaust.  Yet the invader and 4/6 have similar timing curves and their exhausts are very different.
