1980 440 drifter bogging down

1980 440 drifter. Cleaned carb (not that dirty), new plugs, coil, and cdi . Runs good for first five minutes, then intermittently starts to bog down. Was told changing the coil and cdi would fix the problem. Still doing it?

Any ideas?? Would love to get the thing running for the kids over the holidays!

Please help!!

clutch/ belt issues once they warm up? I'd guess more electrical. does it go away once it cools down?

It is not as bad when cold at the beginning. After five minutes throttle is 3/4 open and barely moving then starts to go then bog down again. This is on the road.
When I hit powder it bogs down worse probably cause snow getting sucked in. Heard you can screens off the vents to avoid this problem.

Any ideas?

I'm with Kawhead...  Replace the crank seals if they haven't been changed recently.

I always count on Jim's seals change comment.  Always step one getting the notorious Kawasaki 30 year old seals changed first.  Beyond this move you can start a process of elimination. 

If it is not the stator plate with the 'primary coils' or you think it is; save yourself some work when you have to pull the motor to make that fix anyway and do the seals.

My motto is never change the secondary coils they are never the problem.  Way to easy to fix and likely why the sled was sold at such a good deal (if you got a good deal).  The previous owner would have changed that already.

Had the secondary coils fail on my 4/6, One failed warm, one failed cold. confused the heck out of me when the plugs kept changing which ones worked..
