1980 Drifter 440 Carb (Mikuni VM32)
« on: August 02, 2014, 11:00:34 AM »
Hey Group! Thanks for welcoming mee.
In short i got 2 1980 kawi 440 Drifters for free. They sat outside since 95... I got one motor running with new pictsons, rings and all gaskets. Now time for the carb!

the old carb needed so much cleaning that for $90 the new one was worth it. I bought a vm32-33 as specified throughout everywhere. Now my concern is jets, and the fact this carb doesnt have the primer input stock and the standard needles and jets are not the one for this sled. i have searched other posts and found these specs for a 1978 drifter 440. Main Jet 260, Jet Needle 6DP10-3 (heard discontinued 8 yrs ago), needle jet P-8, and pilot jet 25.

Can anyone confirm these settings? I could remove all these from the carbs that were on it, if needed right?

Additionally this doesnt have the primer input, but does have a drill start point for drilling and tapping.
The new carb also doesnt have the hose that connects to the air intake side of the carb, but rather just has the tube hanging from bottom of carb.

Has anyone put these newer carbs on the older sled?

Thanks in advance for any info!
