4/6 cylinders
« on: April 07, 2014, 09:17:37 AM »
I have a 80 440 Invader that I restored, One of the parts machines I have is a 79 440 that has 4/6 cyls. on it. Can anyone tell me if I would gain any power with these? If not, what would they be worth to sell? Thanks.

Yes, they will add power.  The last set I sold went for $150 each.  They had very nice original chrome, and were not ported.

Thanks Gixxer6! that's what I was hoping to hear. I guess I'll be building the other motor and probably start over with clutching & jetting......AGAIN!

I'm just starting to look for pistons now. Took it apart last night and found out that both cyls. have sleeves installed with 1 mm oversized  pistons and one piston is damaged. I'm thinking these might be impossible to find!!

I put quite a few miles on my 4/6 motor with sleeved and ported cylinders without issue.  It has .040 over Wiseco pistons in it...

The only difference between the OEM Kawi Invader and 4/6 pistons is the ring locating pin placement (and some of the 4/6 pistons had Teflon coating).

From my understanding, some aftermarket Invader pistons have the locating pin where the extra transfer ports of the 4/6 are.  As you can probably imagine, it is not good to have ring ends where the port openings are...

I don't know about other brands, but I know the Wiseco Invader pistons in my 4/6 do not conflict with the ports.  And it runs GREAT!
