Interceptor Parts
« on: March 14, 2015, 08:02:24 AM »
O.k. guys, I need your help!

First of all I want to make it clear that I am NOT looking to buy any Interceptor engine parts!  I have enough!  What I am looking for is...   for your input on pricing.

Long story short...   I purchased an Interceptor from "someone" about a year ago. (Nobody on KTrax) ;).  This was a very low mileage sled (one owner).  I was told the engine was "all there" but in pieces bagged up in the engine compartment.  I trusted the seller (I've done business with him for many years).  It was a "handshake" sorta deal.  No paper trail. I paid top dollar for it because of it's history and mileage.  Well, it showed up and it had a bent ski, rear tail panel damage, missing brake mechanism...   BUT the worst was I opened the hood and SHIT!!!!   There was only a partial engine and it was from an LTD!!!  Wrong pipes, no electronics, no carburetors, wrong cyl's and head, no air box, clutch...  yada, yada.   I had a few choice words for all of that!  A year has passed including a  well typed letter many emails and phone calls.  I am trying to determine the "going" price (specifically) Pipes, cylinders (no porting or sleeved stuff), carburetors and head.  I need to put a value on the missing parts.  I know what I've paid for similar items in the past, but I need a few moderators to help with value (now).  The biggest problem is that there isn't much out there!  How do you put a price on something you can't find!  You can send me a pm if you feel more comfortable.  Thanks guys!  Really appreciate any help.       Tory

Sorry Tory....new at this pm stuff...

Simply put and not a secret to anyone:

1-Pipes should go for $250.00 min used.....oem impossible to find...
2- Cylinders are $300.00 each nos....they are rare specially nos and untouched...!
3- Carbs...$200.00 a set used minimum .....with useable diaphragm's ......nos impossible to find.....diaphragm's are $50.00 minimum  nos....when you can find one...
4- Head.....your guess is as good as mine....i haven't seen one for sale in years......i'd say, a good used one $250.00 minimum......or whatever someone wants to pay...

All this to say, real nice undamaged, untouched, un-modified, un-retouched, un-screwed around with parts for a 550 are worth their weight in gold.....which means whatever someone is willing to pay in accordance to their budget....

You just got to find the right seller and the right buyer...!!

Take care...

The only Interceptor stuff I have gotten in the last couple years are I traded 2 jugs that I thought needed to be re plated for a complete suspension that needed some LTC to be usable.  Seems like there was an NOS dash that sold for around $350.00 a few years back.

Dan is right on about the cylinders going for $300 apiece NOS. If you need a belly pan NOS I talked to a guy in Canada that has one and he's asking $500 and a redone motor complete would be at least $2,000. Tory if you need a NOS oil pump I have one for the Interceptor and one oil seal.  Doug

Thanks Doug,  Just trying to get some input so I and the seller can adjust the original sale price of the Interceptor I purchased.  I am thinking a USED cylinders (no porting and stock chrome bore) has gotta be worth $150 a piece.  Thinking a head has gotta be $200 and original carburetors???  $200-$250?  I agree with 2g's for a rebuilt engine for sure.  As Gixxer pointed out and as most of us have figured out the parts are worth more than the sled! :o

Dan, I do not have pay pal. Would take a postal money order and yes It is in the org. box. For ref. here is the part #  49042-3015. I'll check on the zip at the post office for how much it cost to ship to that zip code and come up with the total amount.   Dan,$10 first class - would take a week or so.  Priority  $30  would get in 3 - 4 days.  Let me know either way.

Hi Dan, If you want insurance and a tracking # then it would probably be priority. I'll find out the total cost for this.  Doug

Hi Gord, The guys name is Norm and is an older gentleman that bought out a kawi dealer years ago and has some parts left over. His # 780-476-9003 or #724-841-4569 think this one is his business number. He also has a NOS Invader belly pan to. I'm hoping to buy some parts from him to. He wants $500 a piece.
