78' Invader suspension question
« on: December 15, 2013, 02:43:21 PM »
So, I took out the 78' Invader yesterday and ran into a suspension issue...  it seems the rear of the suspension somehow managed to get "stuck" up in the tunnel in the "no suspension mode."  The rear of the tunnel literally "on the ground".  I removed the suspension and didn't see any obvious issues.  I know the newer Invaders have the Vari-ride, but not this jewel.  Things seemed to work fine in warmer weather.  Frozen shaft out back??  Any thoughts?

Mine did this when the shock went bad, it dropped the tunnel almost to the ground and if I propped up the rear end the suspension would drop down by morning. I put on a new shock and the problem was solved.

The 78 has suspension springs that have some adjustment.  If the suspension will not stay up on it's own the springs need some adjustment.  A frozen shock could hold it down if it froze in the down position or the shaft is badly rusted and it could get stuck on the bottom of the stroke.  Most of the time with a frozen suspension it's the cross shafts.
