Interceptor bellypan vs Invader bellypan
« on: December 05, 2020, 12:42:09 PM »
I have a 1978 Invader I'm restoring, the bellypan is pretty beat up with cracks and pieces missing, I was just going to do my best to repair it but I found this place online Chattanooga Fiberglass that makes molded Interceptor belly pans and according to him the only difference is the Interceptor ski stance is wider than the Invader, can anyone confirm this and tell me what the difference is. The belly pans he sells don't have the holes cut out where the steering drops down to the ski's so in theory they could be inset a little to account for the difference but if it was too much of a difference I'm thinking it might not look very good? Also has anyone bought one of these, sounds like he will cut them in half to make shipping less expensive and then people fiberglass them back together? Any thoughts? Thanks

Yes the Interceptor has a wider stance.  The only difference in pans is the area over the ski spindles.

I have a good shape invader pan it has only a few cracks near the gear case drain hole . Pulled off a 78 340... shipping may be exorbitant though

Yea, I'm in Alaska so it makes shipping costs a nightmare.

I believe the pan is also larger to accommodate the larger 550 pipes.

I’ve tossed around the idea of widening the Invader bulkhead and installing an Interceptor pan, the wider ski stance would make for a nice handling upgrade.
