I do not have a clutch alignment tool and today find myself checking the alignment using the method described in the manual for performing the alignment without the special tool.
In looking at the manual, it says that the offset of the secondary can be measured from the plane of the back side of the fixed sheave of the primary converter. The measurement range is from 0.525 to 0.588 off of the outside of the primary sheave.
What I am curious about is where exactly to measure on the secondary since there is a step in the casting. The step is just a little over 0.11".
I started looking at the alignment because the belt has a steeper taper on one side making me think that the alignment might be off.
I appreciate any guidance from someone who has done this successfully.
Thank you.

If you take a straight edge on the backside of your primary clutch To the back side of the secondary top side that's where you measure the offset. You should do this with the belt off just make sure your secondary is bolted on along with your primary

Thanks for the response. When "back side of the secondary top side" I just want to be sure which point to measure to since the back of the secondary is not a single plane.
In the blow up of the attached photo labeled "A" and "B" The difference between these two points is roughly 0.11 inch.
The current set up measures about 0.58 to "B"
But I am wondering if the measurement should be to "B" or to "A"

Tonight I checked 4 of our other sleds. All measured approximately 0.56" +/- to the outside lip of the secondary. So at this point that is how I plan to set up this sled.

A is where I measure from

Thank you.

If I remember correctly "A" is where the alignment tool measures from as well.
