i know this topic was on the old site but bear with me. has anyone on this site succesfully installed a polaris jackshaft and secondary on a invader or ltd? i have all the parts to do it just looking for some additional info. thanks guys.
-
finalized the install last night. just had to make a little clearance on the webbing of the backside of the chaincase and she bolts right in. polaris brake disc and all. easy as pie
-
off an indy? what year?
-
it was off an xc not sure what year.
-
would you have a picture of the shaft, was it a painted black one or the gold finish, did you install a hydraulic brake
-
ditto...also,what year/model p85 will work?
-
black shaft with the splined brake. (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10202296225625326&l=ddbff2ac1b)

i will be using a hydraulic brake because it will be an oval sled but with a little more playing around the stock brake would work.

Wow That is awesome. I was thinking of some thing like that for my 79 Intruder. Did the original chain gear fit in the jack shaft? Also what is up with the tie rod? It looks a lot different than stock. Thanks Marc

i changed the angle of the steering arms on the spindles to change the akerman. i also wanted to go to a larger 7/16 heim joint so i had to make my own tie rods.(https://scontent-a-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn2/1456636_10202303464246287_47783896_n.jpg)(https://scontent-a-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/1456636_10202303464206286_2130593421_n.jpg)

My compliments on your workmanship. Things look very nice so far. The Polaris clutching is a good choice simply due to parts availability and ease of tuning. My Interceptor wears Polaris clutches (jackshaft?). When I eventually get to that stage I'll see what part #'s things are ? Thus far I have an engine which when secured to the workbench ran for a couple seconds on spray.

I want to bring this thread back alive. The pics are gone. I have a few Kawi oval racers and would like to change to polaris secondary and hydraulic brake. invader87. do you still have the pics? any other details you can share. thx

Hi
I used a jackshaft and brakedisk from a indy 400 in my invader.
Secondary clutch I have a Arctic with rollercam.
Everything was bolt on.
-
The engine clutch is an Arctic 108exp

wow, nice pics and great looking work. Thanks for the info. I am in the search for 2 or 3 indy jackshafts.
-
jtervaniemi,
I took some measurements and a polaris jackshaft is 24 inches long and the kawi is 26 3/4" I don't see that a polaris jackshaft is going to work in Kawi. What am I missing?
-
Hi
There was no problem for me, I don't remember the measurements on the shaft I used.
The clutch is floating on the shaft, self centering.
-
Great picture!!!!!!!

Thanks!

Mid 90's Polaris jack shafts are over 26". I talked with another racer last night he said 26.625" is a standard Indy jack shaft Polaris made different sizes over the years so measure before you buy one to make sure it fits your Application.

Here's some pictures of my drivetrain. Notice the different belt. 1105.

I bought a polaris jackshaft from 97 XC700 for $25 off ebay. see attached pic. It looks like it will work. The pic shows side by side with Kawi jackshaft. the Polaris is shorter by 5/8" but I can simply add a larger spacer on the secondary side. It already has standard 1/2" spacer. The gear fits on fine and looks like the brake disc I bought of ebay for polaris will work as well.
