coil for a 1980 440 drifter

I have a coil that looks identical to the one on my machine. The only exception is it looks like I have to splice the plug wires using the ends for the plug side from the old ones.
Is this normal? Never spliced plug wires before!
let me know
thanks

I wouldn't say it is normal. But as long as they are spliced correctly they shouldn't be a problem.
