Sounds like a nice find!  From my experience it's cheaper to re-plate a cylinder than to have a set ported.  I've never heard of Aaen porting specs for the 340...  I've never seen anyone port 340 Invader cylinders.  I don't think there's Aaen pipes for the 340 either.  I think a light port job would run good with the stock 340 pipe.

the 1980 pipes had an extra "bread pan' right by the outlet and was supposed to produce a little more zoom.

80/81 440 vaders used that pipe, 3 hp gain claimed.

I have found a rear suspension from an '82 ltd. Would that fit in a '78 or '79 invader 340 or 440? Would it be worth the $80 and effort?

You'd need to get the spring brackets off from the tunnel too.  The Vari-ride is a very noticeable improvement over the older style.  If it were my everyday trail sled that I rode a lot, I would go through the time and expense.

You also need the steel piece that reinforces the tunnel.
