RIP....Leonard.
« on: February 28, 2015, 09:14:30 AM »
I am very saddened to hear that Leonard Nimoy has passed away at the age of 83.
I will admit to being a bit of a "Trekker". I didn't enjoy all of the various iterations (original series, Next Generation, Voyager, and the movies) so much for the "smoke and guns" as I did for the late Gene Roddenberry's vision for the future of humanity.
It seems we live in a time that seriously lacks "Vision". The democrats and republicans spend more time criticizing each other than charting a course for the betterment of our country and the world. Maybe I'm becoming a "grumpy old man",....you putz!!
It seems that most of our politicians have no vision beyond getting re-elected.
We find ourselves in a time when tensions are very high....cultural, racial, (can anyone say Ferguson, Mo?), sexual, religious, (can anyone say ISIS?), and yet, Star Trek held out that somehow humanity could overcome those differences in the future.
Many thanks to you, Mr. Spock, over the years for the entertainment and inspiration.
Several more inches of snow predicted for tonight....I will see if I can get the Invader up to "Warp Speed" in your honor.
75 SnoJet Astro SS, 79 Kawasaki Invader 440 (two of them), 81 Scorpion Sidewinder, 82 Blizzard 9500, 83 Yamaha Vmax 540, 97 MXZ 670....and holding...for now.
