Interceptor for sale on Vintage Classifieds
« on: May 07, 2014, 07:15:08 PM »
So, not trying to be critical here, but $750 plus the shipping to get it to your house...   if you look at the pics, it's a basket case.  Good for parts.  Needs an engine, seat cover, radiator, tunnel has damage, etc.  You will end up spending close to 4 g's to get this baby back to riding condition (assuming you do all the work yourself).  Also,  assuming you have the parts to fix it!  Just wanted to give my two cents.  It is an Interceptor, but you may be restoring this one for the next ten years.  You can't save em' all....................

Looks like a decent parts machine to me.  You're right, it's probably not worth restoring...

If anyone here buys this sled and decides to part it out....i'd have an offer for the rear suspension rails....which to me are worth a few bucks...

Food for thought...

Looks like it has a different bulkhead and bellypan, it is not an Interceptor bellypan is it? Plus it has no pipes already asked. Joel

Looks like an Invader bulkhead and bellypan to me.  If it were closer to me I'd buy it.  If you add up what the good parts are worth, skis, rear skid, snow flap, seat foam, tail light, head, cylinder cores, recoil, etc. etc. etc... a guy should easily be able to recoup the asking price.  My opinion anyway...

Agreed...  good for parts.  Unfortunately, Utah is a few miles from most.  You gotta factor in the shipping.  The cheapest I could have it hauled to the East Coast would be about $400 bucks.  So, $750 + $400  (for me).  Also, from my experience, the sled shows up and you find out that half the parts that you "paid for" are either junk or need some TLC.  The rails and the track are surely worth some $ if they are in decent condition.  I don't know that I'd be willing to take the risk though.  If one of you buys...  you will have to let me know how it works out.   She looks like she's been driven hard and put away wet (in the hot desert sun).

If the motor is stuck chances are the crank is less than great due to moisture?  Perhaps sleeves?

From what I've seen, when someone advertises a motor as "stuck" pretty much a guarantee the crank is junk.   Good reason to keep those LTD cranks!
