Title: I struck oil!!!
Post by: gixxer6 on January 25, 2019, 01:42:23 PM
So I've known I've had a leaky banjo check valve in my oil injection system for quite awhile.  It usually just makes for a really smokey startup each season.  This year was different.  I went to pull it over and the engine turned a little then STOPPED.  I pulled the plugs and found the engine completely full of Klotz 2stroke oil.  I guess that's one way to fog and engine haha.  Time to replace those banjos and drain the motor.

Funny how these kind of things have a way of getting at the root of the problem.

Wow...Anyone ever tried replacing the crank banjo with the engine in?  It won't come out without the water pump removed, and the water pump is nearly impossible to remove with the engine in the chassis.  Luckily I found the bad banjo to be on the mag side cylinder so I won't bother changing the crank banjo.  Whew, dodged a bullet there!

I bet I siphoned half a quart of klotz out of the motor.  lol

Hmmm.... this sounds close to the riddle I just posted. What / where is this banjo check valve?
