Title: L/C drifter?
Post by: nickw on October 28, 2013, 12:47:48 PM
Looking around on craigslist I ran across an '80 drifter 440 for cheap.  I know where there's an '81 liquifire with a good engine (rest of the sled is junk) for real cheap.  Would the l/c 440 bolt right in?  I know I'd have to plumb heat exchangers, but a long as the engine would bolt right in it might be worth it.

It certainly would not be a huge task to put a liquid in a 80 Drifter. But I would be surprised if it would just bolt in.. It might just bolt in a 81 Drifter.

What would the difference be between an '80 and '81?

I believe the mounting changed on the '81, mounting points moved a bit.

81's used the same bottom end as an Intruder. The oil pump was built into the crankcase. That makes it easier to put a liquid in the Drifter.
