The motor does not need to be pulled to change the oil pump. I have changed several without pulling the motor.
I have had several pumps that have had the seal on the shaft that drives the pump leak. I searched for a replacement seal but could not find one. I ended up replaceing the pump (sometimes putting another used pump in only to find out it leaks too
). Now, before I install a pump, I will fill it with oil on the bench and leave it for 24 hours to test for leaks. This saves the pain of putting one in only to find it leaks...
I don't recall anything special needed to pull the pump, just remove the bolts that holds it in place and it should come right off.
