Title: 79 Drifter plastic seat base
Post by: Dandb7 on November 07, 2019, 03:16:09 PM
Hi,

The seat plastic base of my 79 Drifter is all cracked were the anchor bolts use to be so it does not hold in place anymore... ...

I'm looking for suggestions or if someone has experienced a great fix for this issue that will also keep the sled looking stock...

Thanks for any help

We have had pretty good success fixing seat bases by cannibalizing another seat base and gluing a fresh piece to the existing base with some PVC pipe cement.  Somewhere on this site there should be a thread of that with some photos.

Just searched around the computer and found some photos of the last seat bases that we repaired.  I can provide more information if you are interested.

I have done similar by cutting patches from another pan and using aluminum plate and rivets to splice and reinforce.  I use 1/4 aluminum and drill and tap new mounting holes.
