Title: Jetting and clutching 1980 ltd
Post by: jtervaniemi on January 16, 2018, 10:23:25 AM
Hi
Anyone have the clutch and jetting chart for 1980 ltd 4/6?
I think my new Ltd have wrong setup.
There is 140 on both pj and main jets, pilot is 35.

The ramps is marked E and yellow spring.
I read about hi engagement J ramps, is it something to have?
I'm not going to dragrace but I want power from scratch!

The 4/6 came with a black spring and F ramps in the primary.  Sounds like you have a 79' Invader clutch installed.

Are you sure you have the original 4/6 motor?  I've seen them with standard Invader motors swapped in because it can be difficult to find good 4/6 motor parts.

Ok, so the clutch setup isn't correct..
I have a 79 invader 440 it hasn't that "bend" besides the intake. There is stamped R2934 on the left side of the left cylinder.
Bottom and top are painted black, cylinders non painted.
Se picture.

When I opened the carburetors the nozzle with o-ring was missing and the main was mounted in that place??

Yes, that is definitely a 4/6 motor.

Looks like someone tried to convert your PJ carbs to standard?

Yes that is the correct parts book.

I found my manual.

Main 140
Econo jet 120
Needle jet p6
Needle 6dh7-3

My info has the mains at 130 and the carbs are marked 36/90.  The 130 mains and the needle jet at P9 is from my cheat sheet so there is a small chance it may not be correct???

I looked it up in my 4/6 parts book.

You're missing the brass washer under the nozzle. Could be an issue.

I just order the correct jets for mine, had 150 mains and having WOT issues now that I've fixed the leaking crank seal.
See attachment from my 1980 Invader 4/6 manual. I'll go get the clutch chart if you need it.
