Matt - I have a small hobby machine shop. If you know the measurements and buy the stock (bronze bushing material, I suppose) ... I can probably turn them for you.

Got one and a dial indicator sitting right here as I was checking the typical hardware suppliers for one.

2.25" long
.55" OD
.40" ID but should be as tight as possible to a 3/8" bolt.

There is a section in the middle machined down to 1/2", and it's 3/4" wide.  Not sure why this is, maybe there is a grease fitting on the spindle but I didn't notice.

I'm not sure on the best material, I think this original one is just steel.

Ok, measure the ID of the hole in the spindle (clean the inside up if you need to). How tight of a fit does the bushing have when installing in the spindle? How tight is the fit of the bolt? If you have a new bolt you will use, measure it up.

Run a file corner across the bushing and see if it is easy or tough or impossible to file. Suspect easy, but sometimes bushings are hardened.

I will look tomorrow at what stock I have. Over .5" I know I have 12L14, but that rusts too easily for this application.

Depending on how tight we need to be on the ID, I may have to see about a reamer.

 Matt

I have never seen a grease fitting for that bushing. Would be nice if there was. I think that machined down area is just to hold grease when it is assembled.

I would be tempted to use a bronze bushing. Unless you plan on riding it really hard :)

Is the hole in the spindle worn?  I have seen them that new bushings are still sloppy.

The bushing to the spindle is tight, it's the bolt in the bushing that's sloppy.

Great, can't wait to see how they fit!

Mister Ed is a hobby machinist, so I doubt he wants to make a bunch of them, but I'm sure we could find a machine shop to make a run of them if they are needed.

Hey Matt, shoot me your address. If you replied to my last PM, I did not get it.

Like Matt said I'm just a hobbyist that plays around. I have a medium sized lathe, vertical mill and shaper ... looking forward to retirement someday and gathering up the toys now. ;D I'm sure I could be convinced in to making more ... if someone was desperate. Although I wish I had a new one to measure up. And next time ... I will only do it in warmer months, lol.
