Doesnt really matter but the intruder is electric start. Just got the trailfire tonight, I see it has the oil injection is on the recoil like a Rotax and its a single carb and obviously the clutch is different. The rest seems pretty similar.

Hi
They are similar but very different.
Intruder is a T7 engine and a Trailfire is a T1 engine.

ok, was wondering if there are any important differences I havent already listed. I figured the fan cooled match ups would be more alike as in the liquifires and invaders are.

Actually the opposite is true.

an Intruder motor is entirely different than a trailfire motor.

While not exactally the same, an Intruder and Invader/Liquifire have very similar bottom ends.

an Intruder motor and a Sportfire/Drifter motor have very similar top ends

Yes they are. And no they are not.

John Deere used two families of Kawasaki motor

 The T1 and T7

T1 is an older design Was used in Spitfires and Trailfires
Kawasaki used a Spitfire motor in the 1980 F/A 340 Drifter

 The T7 is a later design and used in Sportfire's, Liquifire's. Kawasaki Invader's, Intruder's and 440 Drifter's ( I'm not sure on the 340 Drifters)

While there are differences within each family. Many parts will swap within each family.

Hopefully this clears things up somewhat.
