Stripping down 79 Intruder

Hey guys, Looking or a little help? I have a 1979 Intruder 440 I trying to get the Drive Axle off, The book I have is not giving a enough info. Any one got a simple way of removing it? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Pull the parts off each end of the shaft so it slides both ways a little. It will go far enough that one end will drop down so you can remove it. Not real simple but not that hard, just takes a little time.

with sprocket and left bearing cup removed it should 'drift 'left if tapped.must clear track drivers also.
