Title: Admitting Defeat
Post by: mswyka on March 23, 2019, 08:36:33 AM
We have come to that part of the year when once again I am admitting to the defeat of winter.  The first sled went back into the machine shed this morning.

I took the Intruder off the trailer today and plan to put it away in the morning when things are frozen up again.  The Invader might sit on the snow pile until the track touches the ground.  Wonder how long that will take???

Same here in Maine. Only had a couple of rides... I slipped on the deck in the early part of the season hanging my let it snow sign and broke my wrist and messed up my hand. Near the end of the season I did get the vader over to the drag strip (against the wife's orders) this one has the JD heads 85mph using Gps for my speedo (phone app) when i backed her down felt like there may have been a little more in her . I could not stop grinning The whole time I was getting scolded by the wife. LOL Rebuilding the Intruder motor this summer and hope next year both will be out on the lake together.
Summer Projects:
Rebuild Truder engine
Re-shingle the garage and stain
Rebuild the 48"Auger Gearbox Ariens
Stain Deck
Restore old style dog sled type for behind the sleds.
Man tired already.

Three more sleds went back into the machine shed this past Sunday to begin their long summer slumber.  Two more to recover from camp before they are all put away for the season.

It is a bittersweet time

I have been playing a kind of silly game the last several springs.  I park a sled on the biggest pile of snow I have and only put it away when the track gets to the ground.  Looks like it will be a few more days!

Silly?  Sounds perfectly normal to me.

About an inch to go.  The cool weather has made it a slow process.

As of 4/15/19 the back of the track has touched the ground.  I will post pics of the event in pic of the week as soon as I get a chance.

You are right, there  are 9 Kawasakis that are partially visible, one Kat Kutter, and one 72 Panther 303 that is  not visible.  Also what you can't see in the photo are the sleds behind me when I took that picture.  Oh, and just barely visible are a pair of turbo jetskis

Thank you.  We could not have done it without the help from others on this forum - either providing elusive parts or the wisdom of prior experience.
