seen these article online thought it was a nice read and showed how impressive these sleds were back in the day. many of you have probably seen/read it but for others wanted to share

That's a good read. Thanks for sharing.
Its funny how they tout how fast the Invader is, but then say that they didn't test 3 of its main competitors... It would be interesting to see a list of sleds they did test, and what the resulting times were.

Well as far as the sleds they didnt test against goes. I have beaten a TXL out on a lake and an SRX on a radar run. They mentioned the Blizzard but did not say which one. I had a Moto-Ski GPS, which is identical to a 5500 Blizzard, that wasnt even a close race. So as far as I am concerned, the Invader is king of 1979.

Very cool article! I always love reading this kind of stuff. It's like going back in time :D

agreed on king of the time, i've heard invaders will run with some 600's (must be true i read it online.lol) but i recall the invader putting it on the liquifire too back then.

When it comes to vintage, I am 100% Kawasaki! But, my money would have been on the 79 SRX... A shorter, lighter, twin piped sled, I think it would be a faster sled in a drag race. Both being completely stock.
