An Interceptor showed up at a local swap meet this past weekend... without a vin id on the tunnel. I looked real close to see if someone had sanded the numbers off, but it looks like it never had any. The tunnel decals looked original (or at least been on there awhile). The seat cover was not original, but looked good. Anyone heard of un stamped Interceptor tunnels running around out there? Occasionally, I see un stamped Kawi tunnels for sale, but wonder how these tunnels could be sold or used as replacements without an id. Pre production units maybe??

There was an Interceptor at Princeton this year with no number on the tunnel. Probably a repair part that was to be stamped when re assembled but never was re stamped.

do you know if the Princeton one sold and how much ?

Rumor told me a couple of times, a place in Chicago Ill. back in the day, made replacement tunnels with no ID"s. Can you tell them apart, don"t know.

IMO I would have a hard time paying "retail" for a sled without a vin# vs. one with... I guess we should assume that the sleds with "no numbers" were originally "numbered" as part of the 600 production.

We've discovered a bunch of JDs that received replacement tunnels and have no serial number. The dealer was supposed to stamp the old number, but often didn't.

I recall seeing someone recently selling an anodized red NOS Interceptor replacement tunnel that didn't have a SN stamped into it.

It was part of the show and did not have a for sale sign on it.

i have a nos tunnel with no numbers, probably a replacement tunnel from a accident.
