Title: Factory jetting for the 79' 440 Drifter
Post by: Tory944 on December 16, 2014, 02:58:29 PM
Hi guys...  Finally going to get my 79' 440 Drifter on the snow this winter (to join the rest of the fleet).  I purchased this sled without a carburetor and don't have the carb specs for this one!  I'd be guessing a 32 mm, but I need the factory jetting...  mains, throttle slide cutaway, etc.  Thanks in advance!

79  drifter 440 used a VM 32 econo jet.
  Marking         32/142
  Main                  260
  Jet needle          6DP10-3
  Needle jet          P-8
  Throttle cut away  2.5 mm
  Pilot jet              25
  Econojet             120
  Air screw            1.5 open

Getting another Kawi ready, huh! Sounds good!

Thanks alot!  That was fast...  cleaning her up now.  This one came from the Kawi warehouse in Nebraska.  You won't believe this - 136 original miles!  Gee, you think the crank seals need replacing? ;)  Thanks much for the carb specs!

If you don't have an econojet carb laying around, the 77 Kawi Astro 440 used a standard VM 34 which might give you a good baseline.
  Main        310
  Needle.    6DH4-3
  Needle jet.  P6
  Cutaway.     2.5 mm
  Pilot.           25
  Air screw.    1.5
