Is it possible to convert my Invader double carbed to Single? How would i do that? Does it matter what single carb i use as long as its a VM-32
-
That is a good question.
Lots of single carb sleds get converted to dual carbs, But I have never heard anyone wanting to go the other way. It could be Done on an Intruder by using Drifter cylinders and intake manifold.
Not sure how you would do it on an Invader.
May I ask why you want to try this?

Well it was my dads idea. I have two different carbs on my invader. The original VM-32 and a VM-36 I think. Idk if they put the right jets in the VM-36 carb or not. Maybe they did that because they didnt find another VM-32? I don't wanna spend a whole lot of money on a new VM-32 carb.

Honestly It would be cheaper to buy a used carb, or even a pair of them than do the conversion to sigle carb.
To get it to run half decent you would need a much larger carb.
There is often carba on Ebay I bet there are lots of guys on here that would sell you a carb or a pair of carbs.

Is it possible to use the VM-36 carb or whatever is on it and change the jets to match the other carb?

your invader came with 36 mm carbs from the factory,i would find another one and use the 36`s,thats if its a 440

No. The purpose of the carb is to create the correct air/fuel mixture to ignite. If you take two different size carbs, and use the same jets, you get a different mixture, because the larger carb is allowing more air to travel through, but the same amount of gas as the smaller one.
Maybe you can offer to trade the 36 to someone for the proper 32?

The VM 32's come up quite often on Ebay. You will need a different carb mounting (boot) as the 32 uses a smaller diameter one. If you are using the stock air silencer, it also has a different carb mount for the 32 vs 36. If you don't have the air silencer, start looking for one. It will affect performance if it isn't on there. Individual air cleaners let in more air and the jets will have to be changed to compensate for that.

Hmm well i wonder where i can find another 32?
-
I got a pair, but it is a hassle shipping to Canada. I'm sure you could find one or two more local.
-
Well i found one at a local salvage yard. They want 85 for the carb
-
That's steep. Brand new ones are $95 to $105.
-
Yea so it will be around 95 bucks taxes included.
-
Yikes!!! you could get a pair on Ebay for about 50 bucks

I dont know how ebay works...
