Post by: Jbowman on January 26, 2015, 10:00:50 PM

Hi guys, I have access to a machine shop so im going make a clutch removal tool. I would order one but It will take too long to get to me and Im trying to get sled running for the weekend. Can somebody that has one please give me the measurements of overall length of tool, where the threads start/stop then how long the tip is and what diameter that is. I know I need to start with a m18 x 1.5 mm bolt but after that im lost.. Thanks fellas.

For the genuine Kawasaki clutch OAL is 7.625.   Lead in end starts with .437 X 1.220 long with a rounded end.  Next is a .590 dia by 1.50 long then the threaded part ( M18 x 1.50 ) on mine is1.15 long but it could be longer to aid with alighnment. That is 3.87 for the 1st 3 features. Then a .59 dia for 3.30 to the bottom of the 3/4 hex head.

For the Comet clutch it's a 2 part puller.  1st part is .625 dia by 4.375 long with concave on 1 end and convex on the other.  Other end is 3.30 long with a ball to match the concave end of the 1st part.  At the ball end it is .625 dia X .38 long and then threaded 3/4 X 16 up to the 1 1/8 hex head .  OAL is about 7.30.

It would be posible to use the Kawi puller on a Comet but it will very likely damage the threads in the clutch.  18mm X 1.5mm is in english .708 X 16.9 TPI so you can see how it would go in a .750 X 16 TPI hole.

Still could be either clutch. Kawi clutch will say Kawasaki right on it.
