Hey guys hopefully someone can help. Does anyone kno if I skidoo splined secondary will fit the splines of a kawi? And are the splines on the gear case side the same?
-
no clue,sorry
-
Thanks for the reply. that's what I keep getting. I know I've heard of people swapping clutches for an overdrive effect. So I'm sure someone's gotta have a clue.
-
I think most guys swap to Polaris clutches. The jack shaft needs to be modified to fit the Polaris secondary.
-
Polaris Primary... also can use Arctic Secondary. The spline is the same for the Cat sprockets. You will need to shorten the jackshaft if you use the Cat jackshaft.
-
Kawasaki secondary's are noted for braking no one has tried to put a different clutch on one? And I thought cats had a keyway I kno u sorta shave the keyway
-
Kawi secondaries are known for breaking? That's news to me! Read the above posts... nothing is a "slide on... bolt on" application. ;) A little ingenuity and you can make just about anything work.
-
Noted for breaking??? I've had to replace a bushing once, but never had one break. IMO the Kawi secondary is a solid reliable unit.
Tory, you must've only posted a few seconds before me! ;D

In my experiance yes. I've had three all invader 440's and the steel part that bolts to the jackshaft they all broke and were welded back together. Figured I can't be the only one its happened to. On thre different sleds. Ur right Ill prolly end up making it not a big deal but bolt on is always better lol thanks for all your input
-
The only reason I was trying to use skidoo stuff is that's what was available. I gotta go pick up a mother parts invader 440 maybe ill scrap the skidoo idea and stick with kawi.
-
1st I've heard of a secondary breaking.
-
Maybe just bad luck. Or someone beat on them. I don't kno.
-
Lol... bad luck! Just replace your bushings and wear shoes and you'll be fine. The biggest benefit to changing your secondary would be for a helix profile change (multi angle helix) for a better shift out... or converting to 1 3/8 from 1 1/4" belt width for increased efficiency and/or top speed. Stock helix is 35 deg. The steeper the angle 44 vs. 34 deg the harder the shift out and the 34 on top keeps the Rpms where they need to be.

the 78 secondary's with rivets were a weak spot, newer stamped ones are much better, if the center bolts have been removed an alignment tool must be used to keep it square
-
if the jackshaft is worn[tapered]were the clutch opens it lets the coupler flex, not good for the coupler, i take a new bushing and slide it down the shaft to check
-
i bet tory has a pipe of drivens,[ i do] not much call for replacements
-
the kawi clutch isnt bad it just didnt have one. Its all a custom build the only thing I got that's kawi is the tunnel belly pan and hood. I'm putting a suzuki motorcycle engine in it, Skidoo mxz ifs, and polaris m10 slide rail. But I'm still running a snowmobile clutch. I have skidoo drive but I think the skidoo tunnel is narrower then the kawi.

I love kawi's I have since I was 14 my pops bought me an invader ltd. always loved the looks of them. I'm 27 now but still have the ltd mono head. Plus a 4/6 a 340 invader a 440 intruder and the project intruder.

Tory944; Where kan i find a 44/34 helix?

Tory 994, where do you find such a helix or have you done it yourself?
