I am assembling an LTD engine with new cylinders and pistons that came with it. 1 cylinder and 1 piston were marked PTO. The second piston (non pto side) has a slightly different rear skirt (tapered). the old pistons appear to be the same pto and mag side. Has anyone seen this?
This slight difference does change intake port opening some (corners open sooner).
On another note, I had to file the corners of the PTO side skirt or it did not clear (hit) the crank when bottom dead center. Is this normal?

Both pistons and cylinders should be exactly the same. You shouldn't need to file the piston skirt to make it fit.
