Has anyone ever used regular nuts on the invader heads to rule out the bottom out problem? I know you can add a washer to the acorn nut but what thread size and grade nut would you recommend if you wanted to switch them.
Thx

It looks like the studs and nuts are metric 8 mm.
I have never personally tried it, but I would think it would work fine.
Use a flat, and a lock washer....or possibly you could also use a nylon insert nut, instead of a regular nut.
With these nuts torqued to only 16 foot pounds, I wouldn't think you need to go to a grade 8 fastener.
Perhaps someone on here can add more info.

I have added a flat under the stock washers. In one instance I've needed to use 2 extra flats. I like the look of the stock acorns, so I haven't swapped them out.
FYI the added washers didn't solve my leaky head gasket issues...

Leaks seem to be hit or miss for me I will do the wd40 wet sand as listed here on the site is that for the cylinder tops also? or just the heads

The only thing that I could get to permanently seal the heads was NOS 4/6 gaskets. I tried NOS Kawi gaskets, NOS Deere gaskets, Cometic, Winderosa, Kimpex, and Marshall. I tried with sealant (several types), without sealant and different combinations of sealant and gasket brand. I tried sanding the head and cylinder per the manual. I finally found the NOS 4/6 gaskets and never looked back. BONUS they are re-usable!

I have used standard 8mm nuts. No problems
