Well we got snow about 6"-7" of powder yesterday. But about 3:00am the wind started so now we have a blizzard. My son took the 79' Drifter out today. The Ltd's are still awaiting extra time and parts. :o Joel

We got around 6", more coming followed by the forcast of 40 degrees and sunny by the end of the week. >:(

We got 6" overnight and it looks like its here to stay. Cold seasonal temps to go along with it too!
Time to go out and show the youngin's what Kawasaki was doing 35 years ago.

Wow, we're deep into winter here in Timmins. With 7 inches on the ground, we're forecasted to receive another 6 to 8 inches on Thursday, and it's been really cold of late. Saturday morning was nuts, -20c and a wind chill close to -30.
It's been hard to get out and about because the swamps weren't frozen over but that's a thing of the past now. All swamps, rivers nad lakes are frozen up good with over 10 inches of ice on the lakes as of Saturday. There's talk of the trails opening soon, if we get all the snow we're supposed to.
Hope you guys can get a bit of what we're getting and get out there and put some miles on.
Cheers.

We started out good, but warmer temps last week and rain/ mist over the weekend has pretty much screwed up the snow. We still have about 4-5 inches but it is soggy and the ground is not frozen yet. Need some more snow and some colder temps.. (did I just say that??)

Hey Jim I agree its kinda a double edged sword when you feed livestock for a living which supports a hobby that requires snow.
-
Hahaaa, here in northern Sweden, we have received around 42 inches ??? ;D

I am ready for summer already

Ours has completely melted. :( But they are forcasting 10 inches on Thursday! My fingers are crossed.

Started coming down around 10:30, slick driving home from work but it's looking good for some riding this weekend!!!

Up here, the two most important tasks we have to undertake before winter, and we take these things seriously, are getting your winter tires on and getting your snowblower ready.
I'm pretty sure you guys who are in the path of this one are similarily prepared and I hope the pain in the butt factor is minimal. Gotta be excited for all this snow your gettin' though eh? We're supposed to get the tail end of this with about 6 inches maybe more. Our trails should be open after Christmas sometime.
We now have a vintage snowmobile club, gonna get in touch with them.
Rock on!

Snowblower has been ready for about a month, snow tires were put o a week before the last bit of snow we got. Sleds have been ready for about a month... same as last year, but this year we got SNOW!!!!
Planning on a little trail blasting this weekend. it has been years since I hit the trails around here, just not enough snow.

The question I have for you all is how much snow is enough? We just got our first dusting and the grass isn't covered... I wanna get the sleds out, but kawi's need deep snow for floating? Don't they? lol

IMO, a solid base of at least 8", then a minimum of 1" of powder on top to lube the slides...

12" on the ground and still more coming down.Excellent for the crops and even better for taking the sleds out one last time. 8)Joel
