Title: P85 clutch
Post by: Sledhead60 on January 30, 2018, 10:32:56 AM
Just wondering what I would need to have as far as spring color and weights for a Polaris p-85 clutch for it to run right on my 79 440 invader. Also, can I use the same drive belt and clutch bolt?

I'm working on my P85 clutching at the moment as well

Springs are difficult to say.  Every manufacturer measures spring rates differently.  I have about a dozen springs but no idea who made them.   Polaris purple is not the same as Aaen purple vs EPI purple.

I did put them all on a spring rate rig and settled with a spring at a rate of 70lbs at 2.5" compressed height and 220lbs at 1.5" with Polaris 10-56 weights.  This combo ended up with perfomance very similar to the stock Kawi clutching.

I used the original belt and used the Kawi Clutch bolt with the Polaris clutch retainer washer.

It depends a bit on which p-85 clutch you use.  There are a couple different offsets. The ones that take the ring gear for the electric start need more taken off.
