Title: 78 invader 440 does not start
Post by: invader 440 on December 31, 2012, 09:58:01 PM
Hi guys ive been trying to get my invader running. i replaced the crank seals and i got it to run afterwards untill antifreeze started coming out of the head. so i got a new top end gasket set to reseal it all. now i cant get it to start. also the fuel pump doesnt look like its pumping enough gas. Even after i cleaned it and made sure everything was clean. Any ideas of what is wrong? Thanks

what size line are you using? 3/16 is tight and hard to put on but wont leak 1/4 will leak and you wont get a good pulse

I  have 1/4 line. the one thing i dont understand is that when i even put gas down the carbs it wont even pop.

Its a good idea to check all the basics if you haven't already and report back.

Is there spark?
Is there compression?
Is there fuel?

If you have no pop with gas in the cylinders, you may have a spark or compression issue.

is there fluid in the pulse line?  Try putting a finger on the pulse line and see if you have a 'pulse'  Maybe  you lost a crank seal or crankcase seal along  the case halves.

One more really dumb one (don't get mad) is there gas in the tank? (been there)  or fouled plugs??

Back to basics.. fuel spark, compression. as Bryan said

I will have to check the pulse line tomorow. i put a extra gallon in the tank before i tryed to start it.  the spark is strong but what would of knocked the timing off since i last ran it and only put the recoil back on.

could be the spark coil shifted which would throw off the timing. You'd still get spark, just at the wrong time.  Maybe a bad connection at the connector on the cover by the recoil??
