Title: Time for New Hoses
Post by: mswyka on January 18, 2021, 05:42:02 PM
Brought the Invader into the garage last night. This morning the oil tank was empty and the floor was covered with oil.

This sled was originally rebuilt in 2004.  So we only got 17 years out of that oil line!

I think that the fuel lines were changed two or three times in this period.

Turned out the fuel line into the pump was broken - which explained why there was no fuel in the tank.

And, there was a hole in the impulse line.  It is remarkable that it ran at all!

With a broken oil line your probably lucky it didn't run too much!

I agree.  Now I am going to check all the sleds, and probably replace them all.

Oil and gas lines seem to be one of those things that need to be checked often.  I find that if they harden up they don't have much more time left.

Tonight the skid came out.  It was missing a capscrew on the limiter cross-shaft and had another loose capscrew - so it was a good time to grease the cross-shafts and check everything out.  She should be good to go now.

The kid looks to be in good shape and that sticker adds a few extra HP to any sled.
