Title: foam, sound insultation on cowl
Post by: bbap on January 06, 2013, 07:56:43 PM
Hey, all....Wondering if anyone has found a replacement solution for the cowl sound insulation that has completely deteriorated under the hood of my 79 Drifter?  I remember seeing some posts on the other site but that was a couple of years ago if I remember correctly.   Steve

It isn't quite as good for muffling noise, but aluminum backed foam for wrapping water heaters and pipes works great. you can buy it with one side of adhesive at just about any hardware store... It actually stands up to exhuast pipe temperatures better then the factory stuff...

You can also buy hood mat from guys like this

The B quiet H liner to me is better then factory deading in every way.... Don't buy any tar based stuff because it will be a mess!

Cheers man

Thanks!  I'll check out Lowes or Home Depot this week.
