Does anyone know what the stock invader track specs are or what newer tracks with a little longer paddles would work?
-
You don't want to go much more than 3/4 inch high with the paddles or they will hit the bulkhead (I have been told) Same with studs.
-
I have put track on with 1" lugs with no issues and i think you can fit up to 1 1/4" in there
-
I bet a 1 inch lug paddle track is awesome in the deep stuff eh? Any difference in how it turns?
Do paddle tracks wear out quickly on road crossings?

What type of track did you use? is it a straight bolt on? we don't have much for trails where I live and all it wants to do is spin out and dig down in the powder.

I have used tracks from Polaris and Skidoo sleds and i usually took the outer wheels off the drive shaft and had to adjust spacing on a couple of the wheels but nothing major.

I put a 1" Camoplast Hacksaw track on my 81' Invader. This was the best mod I have ever done to a Kawi.
Like Trucker said, some of the idler wheels needed to be repositioned. However, I didn't remove the wheels on the drive, I repositioned them also.

Thank you very much for your help. I am going to start looking for a 1 inch track to get ready for my summer mods on this sled.
-
what did you guys use to space the rear wheels out?
-
I used parts from other sleds i parted out or just moved the little washers around a bit
-
after looking at it closer,,, it looks like a couple/few washers should do it...
for some reason it seemed like the rear wheels were closer to the windows than they are... (like they had to come out at least 1/2")
that and im probably just over-thinking it ::)

It's been awhile, iirc I used a longer shaft in the rear with longer spacers.

yep,, all it needed was 2 more shims on each rear wheel... (good thing i had a 3 wheel skid laying around for parts)
the wheels actually measured 12" from inside to inside,, which is the same distance as the outside of the drive lugs,, the 2 extra shims on each side brought it to 12 1/4"... a couple adjustments to the alignment and it looks good to go...
picked this track up for $60... 192 studs (- pullouts),, all the clips are there & in decent shape,,, and looks to be pretty low mileage (all the nubs on the lugs are still there)... whatta deal,,, kinda feel like i ripped the guy off but that was his asking price...
