We have a 79 invader 340 up at school to work on. we got it running again but there is a little hesatation in the throtle but we had about 5 guys try it out but it will only go 50-55 mph. what could it be that is holding it back besides it being a boat to ride 8) thanks

Are you reading the speedometer or are you clocking with a gun or GPS? There is an on-going debate about the ratios in the various Kawasaki speedometer adapters and whether they allow the gauge to read accurately. Side by side I have two sleds one will read 30 while the other reads 60.

We were reading the speedo. also it seems more like its closer to 60 but we might try to clock it tomorow

Depending on snow conditions, 55-60 on the speedo for a 340 might not be too far off. On hard pack or ice, 80 should be achieved.
As far as the hesitation, tuning? Carb sync? Do you have the original airbox installed?

We put the air box back on. he put a main jet on that was a tad bigger. the plugs are showing that its running good. it needs the idle set better so i was going to do that tomorow to see if it helps.
