Title: Drifter 340 strange symptoms
Post by: Scottyboy on January 10, 2013, 07:25:24 PM
Hey ,my Drifter 340 is acting weird. 160 compression in each hole. Rebuilt the carb. New points.Checked and re-checked everything. Now fuel sprays out the back of the carb. Took it for a run and checked the plugs ,they were dry but one was the nice brown colour and the other was white. Why is the one plug burning so lean? Also sometimes the sled idles nice ,but after revving it ,it stalls. Crank seals maybe? I'm stumped.
Thanks for any input.

Could be crank seals. Or a leak somewhere else.

 Which plug is white?

Did you do a leak down test?

crank seals, cylinder base gasket, head gasket, intake gasket, sounds like it is pulling extra air in there from somewhere.

Have you changed the crank seals?

How about the crank seals... there seems to be a pattern here...
