Title: Kawasakis at Bear Creek drag race
Post by: JDmatt on March 24, 2013, 08:20:47 PM
I went to check out some drag races at a local ski slope called Bear Creek in Macungie, PA.  I was surprised to see a bunch of Kawasakis in the vintage class.  I believe there were 3 Invaders, and an LTD, out of a total of around 10 sleds.  One of the Invaders made the final race, but lost to a TX 440.

I raced my Invader at Bear Creek Mountain.  There were a total of 26 vintage sleds.  After round one elimination 6 of the remaining 13 sleds were Kawasaki's.  5 Invaders and one LTD.  I attached the line up of remaining sleds after round one.

I bought mine to race the oval vintage at coudersport PA, but didn't have it ready.  I will for next year.  I also bought a 81 ski-doo 9500.  I raced the Invader against the 9500 in 3 rolling starts and they were dead even.  From a standing start, the 9500 is quicker of the line.  I don't know if it is typical but my Invader is a little weak at bottom end.

Has anyone added reed valves to the invader engine?  There was a guy from Boyesen there and he told me he did one a while ago but didn't have dyno results.  It takes a lot of work because you have had fab a reed cage.

That's a great turn-out.  I didn't get there until noon, so I missed the first round.
