Title: Heavy duty cooling kit
Post by: Drifter on November 02, 2013, 12:58:01 PM
Hey everyone!

Hope everyone had a great summer.  It's time to start thinkin sledding again.  I was wondering if anyone had the part number for the heavy duty cooling kit for a 79 drifter 340.
Or if anyone had one to sell.

I think my son had a good birthday...I'll see if this picture comes through.

great pic!  the hd cooling kit had 4 vents to put in the hood...i wouldnt, seem to make the hood flimsy....a large funnel on the airbox intake to pull cold air from one of those vents.... i wouldnt, sucked a lot of snow and vent retaining clips into the motor [saw one eat a choke lever roll pin, go figure], not good.....the intake air shroud got a nice rubber seal to keep hot air off the carb, thats the thing id go after

Hey thanks for the reply Kawhead.

I would definitely be interested in just the rubber seal to see if that helps.  I Didn't like the thought of cutting the hood.  I wondered if I could put a 5" adjustable aluminum elbow on the fan housing pointing forward to bring colder air into the motor but carb temperature seems to be more the issue.  Would anyone know if that seal has its own part number?  Also wondering if Arctic Cat had a similar kit for their Kawi powered units.

Thanks
Drifter

it was a u shaped strip of rubber glued around a stock piece of tin, easy to make or look in the motor boxes at a swap....a small vent by the fan intake ia about all id do for a vent, if that
