Title: Intruder air box
Post by: dan75 on December 18, 2013, 05:57:32 PM
the air box has levers on both sides with springs on both...is this a flap inside that is functional on how much air enters the carbs?

The Invader/Intruder air boxes have a built in restriction that silences the air, and makes a low pressure area for the Econo-jet carbs to work. The only difference between the Intruder and Invader is which side the air inlet is on. Invaders must have it on the left side (due to the radiator location) where the Intruder could have it on either side. Normally it is on the right side.

The levers with the springs attach the airbox to the mounting flanges on the carburators.

Yes, use the stock air box. I learned the hard >:( way by running individual foam filters on my Invader 440 LTD. I guess if your a top notch mechanic and engine builder/tuner you can get around them issues.....I'm not!
