Title: Engagement rpm
Post by: Habbeli on March 12, 2014, 08:13:34 AM
How should I do to get up engagement rpm to about 5,500 ?
I now have white spring and E-ramps which weighs 61.5 gr and the engagement rpm is no just at 4,200 - 4,300 rpm  >:(
I gotta get this shit to "explode" on the start line when I run drag racing  ::)
Advice is desired a.s.a.p.  :D

Modify your E-ramps to Aaen spec.  Then tune with spring and washers.  I have played with E's, J's, F's and have had, by far, the best results with the modified E's.  At least for a drag setup.  For trail riding, stock clutching works best for me.

The specs for modifying them are in the members area under Aaen Porting Specs.

This applies to a Intruder so I can not let the engines rpm go up more than about 7,300 but I must surely try my way. gixxer6; What are your engagement rpm on your sled?

With the modified E's on my 440 Invader, I tuned it for a 5,000 rpm engagement with a 8,000 max.  This gave me a good hole shot without excessive track spin.  I did have it engaging at 5,500 rpm, but it was too high.  So I changed the weights and spring until I got a good launch (5,000rpm).

Okay, I have now tried to lighten my e-weights and Chims the spring (white long)
I'm now up to 5.000 engagement-rpm, but now top revs up in 8.000 and so high I do not want it  :-\
It does not seem like that I get rpms to where I want, 5.500 engaging and 7.300-7.500 top rpm  :(
I might have to run with Comet or Polaris clutch so there are better adjustment possibilities  :-\

Max power is around 7,200 on the Intruder engine.

7200 with an intruder pipe...   i'd still try an invader pipe, and see if it will pull more clutch weight.....porting not allowed i assume?

No, free update of the carbs it is, I run with 34 Mikuni flat slide  :P
If I get hold of an Invader pipe should I try it, it is not easy to find parts here in Sweden  :-\
