I will get this started with this.

.
-
Water skipping on the 81 Invader.
-
This sled was a Waconia and looked to be very well made.
-
Braapfest 2017 getting ready to take the race flags to the lodge for the racing.
-
gotta love the81s
-
My 82 Intruder on a run to fill my neighbors boiler while they are on vacation.
-
Nice clean Intruder...and it matches the Barn...!! :-)
-
I see you have the factory backrest option. I have a NOS backrest and luggage rack new in the box. Debating on if I should install it or not on my 80 Intruder... :-\

Put it on, there are kind of rare and should not be just left in a box.

Braapfest 2017, old reliable sitting at the finish line for the one lunger and wankel racing.
-
1978 440 Invader
-
Blind fold racing at Braapfest.
-
I know these are not sled pics, but are Kawasaki. And pretty cool.
-
Your sunglasses would go well with those!
-
Yes they would.
-
My wifes 78 Intruder. Very fun sled
-
Finished another 81 LTD ready to be fired-
-
Nice sled!
-
Well done...lots of hours into that one !!
-
My guess is that it came out of a pig barn. When the guy I got it from, washed it, all the dust ,mud , went in everything. It smelled. Has 1037 miles on. Thanks for compliments.
-
Waconia 2017, slept in the van over by the swamp.
-
Not a snowmobile but I like the picture. My dad had a sawmill in Ridgeland WI until I was 16 and he sold out.

Wow! looks like it has never been used!
660 miles on the clock, looks like it spent no nights outside.

This was in the St Germain show this year.

Don't want to get in his way out on the trail ;D
-
If it gets to ugly you could use this to drag the pieces to a place where it can be worked on??
-
Just showed up. Kawasaki Adventurer suit. Nice suit, fits perfect.
-
Looks to be in great shape , nice find !
-
Just showed up. Kawasaki Adventurer suit. Nice suit, fits perfect.
What year were these meant for?
-
Not for sure, shown in brochure, with 81 LTD behind them.
-
How would this be for a summer ride?
-
Not sure who he is. The suit is Kawasaki but I've never seen one like this before meeting him at Waconia this year.
-
Another Braafest picture heading to Springstead Lodge on the 81 Invader.
-
Gatta love them 81 colors.
-
This one was after snow blowing the driveway a few years back. It feels good on a stinkin hot day like today!!
-
I'm with ya, that would feel good.
-
These sleds went to MN a few years back. Rumor is some of them are sitting in a yard.
-
Can we ask, where this pic was taken? And where abouts Minnesota?
-
The picture was taken in Illinois a few years back. It was all for sale as a lot and sold to a guy from Minnesota. Several truck and trailer loads of Kawasaki stuff were seen enter the twin cities headed north. For a short time some of it was being sold on Ebay and other ways of selling stuff. Some of these sleds were at Princeton a year later. 4 Interceptors on a trailer! I got a phone # of the guy but could never get ahold of him. Last I heard a couple years ago some of the sleds are in a back yard in upper MN but a lot can change in a couple years.
-
That is a very, close to, story I have heard before. Never seen pics to go with it.
-
Sleds were in a warehouse and trailers for storage. A deep pockets owner was into Kawasaki and made sure the players had what ever they wanted. It was said that you could port the 8 port motors all you wanted. The power gain was small and the life of the engine was also small. The engineers at Kawasaki had the best of everything for building the motors so they are great just as they are. Anyone running these motors should run the stock classes and they will be very competitive. 4/6 was also taken "almost" to the edge. Sprocket has managed to take those jugs to the edge.
-
Would love to have just one.
-
Would love to have just one.
550 00002 was in the bunch.

Some of my garden this summer. Picked up Smiley at a thrift store this summer, I've had the stature for many years. They seem like a nice couple! Ha ha!!
-
They look like the odd couple. I can see why he's smiling. Looks like a good year for growing Kawasaki's.
-
Nice couple.
-
Nice couple.
They are a happy couple when I let them be together. She is not outdoor hardy but he is. No surprise there.

It's an "organic" garden, you can barely see the Kawi's thru the weeds.

81 Drifter
-
Another 82 Intruder snow ready-
-
That one looks pretty clean.
-
I saw this at a garage sale just north of Hudson WI this summer. Bet it was a hoot to ride.
-
Should of had some get-up and go.
-
For 2016 HayDays, Levi LaVallee performed a 200' jump. I took these pictures from across the road from the ramps.

Waconia 2017
-
New to this site. I had a 1978 Kawasaki Intruder given to me last year along with 2 other for parts. I am slowly restoring it. It was in my buddy's uncles basement for over 20 years. The parts ones were in a barn that was falling over so they're in pretty rough shape.
-
Welcome to the site!!
-
Thanks. I'll post more pictures as I go.
-
Just brought this baby home.........i know.....not a sled..... but it is a Kawi...!!
She'll sit very nice besides the Interceptor... :-)
-
Here's a better pic....
-
Nice bike!
-
Thanks....a nice winter clean up will do her good.....pictures to come in spring...!
-
I just finished up installing a new seat cover on the Intruder and F/A. Thinking Snow Early :)
-
Nice! ;D
-
Thanks 398 ;)
-
Rolled The Black Beauties Outside for a couple pictures today. :)
-
Nice pair !! ;)
-
Thanks Interceptor 398. ;) I just got them both fired up and sounded pretty goo. I did clean the suspension up on the one and it turned out pretty good.
-
Wow! Two sexy interceptors 8)
-
Thanks Dandb7 & Gilson435... I hope to get them both out and get videos and pictures of them on the snow. Maybe a show sometime to. :)
-
OK, not a picture but very entertaining.

A bit cold here today!

Ouch!

My old autocross car. :)
-
My old autocross car. :)
I bet that was a hoot to play with!
-
So I ordered a new air compressor and it said 10-14 days shipping so I think I have plenty of time to get ready for it's arrival. 4 day after ordering it I see a semi pull up at the end of my driveway!! Oh crap, the ATV and the truck are both not wanting to start and help me get this thing to the shop. The delivery guy helps me get the compressor part way down the driveway and there it sits!! Now what?? The next thing to try is the Invader, it pops right off so there is still hope to get this thing to the shop door. I put 2 sidewalk scrapers under the front edge of the pallet so it will slide. I put a ratchet strap low on the pallet and in slow motion pulled the compressor over to the shop door. Worked like a charm!!

It was. I'm road racing now with this car. 494 Rotax powered but I'm swapping it to a 593 rotax.

1980 340 Invader suspension parts ready to be assembled. Cancer charity sled.
-
They would look great on any sled. Need some more to do?
-
Interceptor is up next but thanks anyway. ;)
-
1979 Invader 440
1980 invader Ltd 4/6
1980 intruder 440
-
Finished restoring in time for Waconia last year. 1982 LTD with electric start. Got second place :)
-
Did you ever get the pics for the insulation pieces?
-
Not sure if this is the 1st green Kawasaki sled but it is very close. Built by the founder of this sled craze and his son. The 1st calendar I made had this sled in it! I wonder how many of them are still hanging on a wall someplace??
-
These 2 sleds were at Waconia last time, my question is can someone get the # of the Interceptor?? Most of the time I will get a picture of the tunnel but I missed this one.
-

Riding the old sleds in the U.P. last weekend.

Great pictures!! What # is the Interceptor?
-
Thank you, we had a great time. Serial 501 is owned by my buddy Ross Heavener, he bought it last year in Illinois.
-
501 is in the register now. It is always fun to add another one! Is this sled in Michigan?
These are the Interceptors that are accounted for so far.

This is my 1980 Kawasaki Intruder feels at home in the mountains with the 156" track conversion
done in 1986 later painted white which is pictured in another post at 2017 Waconia Ride In
-
welcome to the site I had a nice visit with you at Waconia the sled looks like a factory job, very nice
-
Welcome to the site! The conversion was well done. I got some pictures of it at Waconia and used them for October in the calendar this year.
-
Back to work today after our annual cheap sled challenge weekend in the UP. Every year gets bigger, crazier and faster than the last. :D
-
You can get an 81 Drifter in a Grand Caravan without removing the ski's. Invader needs the ski's to come off.
-
Finally got around to doing some work on the old girl. Hoping to get it out this weekend.
-
Braapfest 2018

WOW, that was some nice snow. I'm, sorry, nice sled too.

Interceptor #480
-
With the correct carbs!! looks to be in great shape!!
-
Beautiful Interceptor, was it restored?
-
Thanks for the compliment on the Interceptor. I bought the sled off the original owner. It had less than 1000 miles, ran great but did need to be restored.
-
What's the number? Beautiful restore.
-
Thanks , she is #480
-
Son in law caught on my trail camera playing on my 81 Drifter over Easter.
-
Busted!
-
Busted!
LOL. you nailed that one!! I took the sled out last night to play in all this new snow we now have. I think I busted out the drivers as it now makes a really ugly noise and does not want to move much. I tried to drag it back with the 4 wheeler and ended up leaving the sled out in the field. Too much snow to drag it back.

Update--- I tried to snug up the track and take a spin to the top of the snow pile. It was a no go and I barely got it to it's summer resting place. Something has busted but it's not the drivers. I won't know about this one until the weather turns warm. I was still working the bugs out of this one and I did notice some welding on the front swing arm. On a bright note I was able to get the 81 Invader to the top of the snow pile!!
-
Just how large is this snow pile?
-
This big.
-
That should keep you in snow for a while.
-
That should keep you in snow for a while.
Won't last long now. the temps are above freezing for the next week. I will get to shut down the boiler real soon.

The Invader is getting close to the ground!

The Invader is getting close to the ground!
Going to need to put the old girl away as we now have a ski on the ground!!
-
They say that all good things must come to an end. But we carry the hope and expectation of snowy winters yet to come.

The one lunger racing bill board at Braapfest 2018. ;D

Went to start her and got 1 pop on the first pull and then nothing. I need to go thru the carbs before the snow flies again. Sounds like a summer thing!

2007 late season doe hunt. Drove the sled out to the woods and walked a ridge that this doe made the mistake of taking a nap on. worked great for getting her to her new home.

Here's my new sled a 1980 4/6 invader ltd with only 557 original miles on it.

she is all original , and not restored. Will be showing her this summer and then enjoying the winters out here in Mass. :)

I'm sure there are quite a few Kawasaki's out there that have been owned for some time by people like us on this site that are wonderful, clean examples.
But, it is pretty cool that I happened upon the '79 Invader recently that I posted on here, and you found this low mileage LTD. Proof that there are still some really nice ones out there, folks!!
Keep your eyes open... :D

If I were wealthy, I might have a building full of classic Camaros, Mustangs, Vettes, and Roadrunners.
If I were a billionaire, I might have a hangar full of these warbirds, including a Hellcat, Corsair, P-38, etc..
Since I am neither, I enjoy owning several vintage sleds....
A pretty cool pic of 2 classics...
-
I agree with you. love the vintage anything.
-
In 2019 I hope to be celebrating one of those "milestone" birthdays. I spent a previous milestone birthday at Camp David. To mark 2019's event I am planning a training flight in a vintage warbird.

-
Very nice. I have two myself a 1980 4/6 invader with only 557 original miles and unrestored and a 1979 invader. The 79 I want to restore or maybe semi restore. Got a NOS belly pan for it and getting a NOS windshield for it. It's really in excellent shape for age, but just want to make it look new.
-
Very nice sleds!
-
My 1979 has 280 miles on it. Unreal, really. It was in a motorcycle dealership up on a shelf for display!
-
Was that up in Canada or in the states? That's pretty awesome. Those are the ones I try to find.
-
The 1979 I got in upstate NY. The 1980 was restored by a fellow here in Ontario.
-
Very nice!!!!

Finally got the ol girl back up and running awesome. Had a float stick on me and fill the crankcase and pipes full of gas over night. I replaced fuel pump to but float was definitely sticking. And installed a shutoff now. 😊
-
I think all sleds should come with a shut off valve I had that same gas issue on another sled years ago all 4 gallons sitting on the floor & the tank was full to start with...damn it
-
Where do you put the shut off valve at. ( location) ??
-
Good Times :)

Stock Pipes. 0 picks/studs in factory track. :o

Buy or rent yourself a big snow blower that hooks onto a tractor & blow the snow into the woods or The neighbors house
-
1hr & 1/2 of riding at 15 degrees Tonight. The 81 LOVED the cold air. 😝. And now put away for the year with her Twin. Done and call it a GREAT YEAR... 😊
-
Running out of room for the white stuff. The 81 Invader sitting on the pile.
Took the old girl for a rip today and I think I now have another small crack in the belly pan. These big banks are kind of hard.

Going to try and get out that way this winter Mark.
-
Going to try and get out that way this winter Mark.
That would be fun. I am trying to decide which sleds to register for next season - probably two of the 440 Invaders - and hope to have a chance to explore some of the trails on the east side of the Adirondacks.
NY is considering a one-time registration and fee for sleds manufactured before 1980. This can't come too soon for me.
-
Mark, what about sledders from out of state???

-
Yes, August 3rd and 4th. Meeting up with some other Kawasaki fanatics.
-
going to try and get a bunch of pics at the show and post them on here.
-
A happy sled.
-
Can't wait to see that white stuff again. My two sleds are itching for it. :)
-
I agree
-
You are right Mark on the sleds, should be in a museum.
-
No sled work yesterday
-
Why was I not invited. :) :)
-
Clearly an oversight on my part.
I should add Doug, that anytime you want to stop by you are welcome. And I can show you our pitiful collection of non-pristine sleds.
-
No sled work yesterday
Now that looks like some fine dinning!!
-
Thanks, one day I'll take you up on that. Hopefully in the winter time. :)
-
Sort of a barnfind 80 drifter. Wasn't a barn but was stored in a hanger since 1990 and only 388 miles.
-
One with an original seat that nice is very hard to find.
-
Distraction from thinking snowmobile.
-
Mine is a three seater. 8)

Here is the pictures from Lowville show in New York. Won first place with my 4/6 invader Ltd. in my class.
-
More pics.

Congrats!!! ;D
-
Thanks 398. I had a great time and met some really nice people. Hopefully got some leads on NOS Kawasaki parts.
-
Congratulations on a well deserved win. That is a beautiful sled.
-
Congrats, Kawasaki's can win.
-
To me they were the most awesome sleds ever made. Thanks for all the compliments. Hope to get out that way in New York. Might go to the winter one in Fulton in Feb.
-
Congrats Doug!
-
This is what a winner looks like. Big smile on his face.
-
Well done Doug......very nice Invader 4/6 !!!
-
This picture is from 2009 when Braapfest was called Addicted to old sleds. We spent 4 hours bar hopping in a blizzard. At times I could not see their tail lights and had to follow the tracks in the snow. One of the most fun rides ever!
-
That's cool. Always loved riding at night.
-
Added this as my current work screen saver. Looking forward to a great season.
-
It seems to be that it will be a excellent winter this year.
-
Looks like fun!!
-
The suspension for the "Cancer charity sled" with 398 in the back round.
-
I took the cover off 398 for the photo. 8)

A bit nippy this morning at -27 F.

Ouch

Ran when parked??
-
For the sleds that we see - in not quite that bad condition - the former owner usually says "ran last year, just needs to have the carbs cleaned and adjusted"
-
Happy Friday!! Sounds like we will be getting more snow tonight.
-
First ride of the season
-
Check this out.
-
More.
-
Nice collection
-
The link to the manuals online is useful but I still prefer the printed ones.
-
Nice collection! I prefer the paper manuals as well, but it’s nice to have access to the online manuals anywhere.
-
The pair that will go to Braapfest again.
-
The riding season is over now so the 81 is parked on my snow pile. I wonder long long it will be before the track touches the ground???
-
What is the record?
-
What is the record?
Good question!
-
Progress report, one ski just touching the ground.
-
Will it make it until April?
-
I think so but now I may need to adjust how it sits. It is getting really tippy with the way the snow is melting.
-
It's a Kawasaki!
-
Hold it! We have not had an Invader on the snow pile update. Is this to make the snow pile bigger?
-
Since there is no snow!
-
From long ago.
-
It's a Kawasaki!
where do you buy it at I'll buy one if they make front end loader's they make skid loader's

I'd drive it!! Nice rig seen in Stillwater MN. It is summer??
-
Brings me happy thoughts on a 92 degree day like today!! Brappfest 2019
-
Great photo..!! Love those early mornings after a good snowfall when the sound of your sled wakes your brain and puts a smile on your face.....!!
:-)
-
This is Shawn on his Kawasaki 292 powered cat at Braapfest 2020. This old Kawasaki was running real good that day.
-
Here's my two Kawasakis at a show last week. Not Huge one, just local.
-
Great looking sleds! They look fast even sitting still!
-
Yes they do, now I just need snow in Southern New Hampshire. Joined a club up there called the Snow Slickers. Trails right at the club house.
-
Happy Holidays To All. A couple pics of cold morning walking out and a frost covered Interceptor and a good/fun day of riding
-
Great pictures and nice job on sizing them!
-
A picture of the harbor cam in Duluth MN + a 78 Invader in the background.
-
Made it out with Wendy on a very nice day for a ride.
-
Another trail camera picture. Wendy on the 82.
-
10 degrees, but great to be out.
-
I was out and about and saw this nice looking Intruder sitting in front of a butcher shop in Deer Park, Wisconsin.
-
I would say that the snow is just about near perfect!
-
Great picture!! We have maybe 8 inches on the ground but the sub zero stuff is not helping.
-
Doing a little work with the "yard punch" this afternoon. ShinoX made the labels for me. Next up are the clutch tools.
-
Souped up it is!
-
Done properly!

From the snow pile packing series
-
Could be entertaining???
-
Waiting for a decent snow...
-
The troops are ready!
-
Got the 81 started and ready to come out it's resting area. It started pretty easy and runs great.
-
Needed to cut some firewood and had to think out of the box a bit. Seems to work fine but if I were to do it this way very much I would put in 340 gears.
-
This past fall I found a bear den on the family farm while cutting firewood. Later in December I get an email from the DNR saying they are looking for bear dens to survey and collar the sows. Fast forward to Tuesday it was survey day. There were 2 cubs in the den and I got to help keep one warm while the worked on the mom. For only being 6.5 pounds these little guys have some big sharp claws!!
-
That's awesome! What a great experience that must've been!
-

Yes it was! Clearly something I never expected to do.
This is my father in law holding a cub. We very much had a great day.

Pretty incredible.

Just an amazing experience.....and great memories...!!
-
A little more firewood work.
-
A picture from Spirit Mountain 2022. Born again Kawi on a great looking LTD.
-
Had a great day, Spirit Mountian plans on this every year. All procedes go to Ski Patrole.
-
This one makes me smile a great big smile!! ;D ;D ;D Wish I had a set up like this on my IH 49 KB 1

That has been a good event.

Going to need to move the Drifter so I can keep working on the wood pile.

Any excuse to fire up a sled is a good excuse!
-
;)
-
Safe to say this helmet would be a bad choice for sledding?
-
Agreed
-
Well played!
-
Had to move 398.
-
The sled looks great whether on green or white. And is that a vintage International?
-
Agreed on the sled and it is a 73 Scout. I have not driven it for maybe 15 years but have hopes of firing it up before the snow flies. It has a warm 400 SB Chevy in it.

We had both a 65 and a 70 Scout. Seeing your photo brought back memories.
-
A couple red rides being played with today.
-
As a child I spend much time in a tractor of that vintage. Thanks for the memory.
-
The truck is a 64 IH 1600 loadstar all wheel drive with 15048 miles on it. Rides like a brick but still fun to drive.
-
Love the fact that it is all wheel drive!
-
It took about 3 years to find an old IH that fit my wants. I plan to pull my IH 500E crawler with it. Still a lot of things to find and put together but it is looking like it might play out OK.
-
I now have a snow pile.
-
And so it begins
-
YES!!! Got kind of stuck on my first try at parking on top of the pile. Next try was a good landing and the 3rd try was good enough. It is going to be interesting getting back up on the pile and starting the sled. I am pretty sure I can smile my way thru it! ;D ;D ;D
-
Upgraded photo.
-
Out cutting some of next years firewood. The snow was 20 inches deep and it was a good thing I was pointed down hill so I could get started moving after filling the sled. Plenty of weight in the sled and I was afraid of getting stuck in the field on my way out. Too much on the gas and I started sinking and slowing down. Overall it was a good trip to the woods.
-
Very nice. I am envious. We haven't seen snow in southern NY since before Christmas.
-
I will admit to having a smirk on my face as I pulled up to the wood splitter. ;D
-
Sad news with this picture, Greg Ponslet aka bornagainkawi has pass away. He was one of the good guys and is the guy in the center in the orange shirt. The picture is from the cancer charity auction at Waconia in 2017. We used his garage to do all the disassembly and re assembly. I will miss him.
-
While sobering, thank you for this news. It wasn't that long ago that I shipped him a few windscreens.
-
I checked the logs and Greg was on Kawasakitrax the day he passed. Kawaholic to the very end!
-
May he rest in peace in Kawasaki heaven.... :(
-
I recall swapping parts with him a few times over the years. Sad news, RIP Greg.

Braapfest 2023. I and my brother are in the oval running the 1 lunger races. The cats racing are Wankels.

Looks like fun. Nice drone work.
-
Braapfest has been the highlight of my winters for a few years.
The 81 had another trouble free trip and is now resting on it's happy spot.
-
The snow this year has been EPIC!! Ran out of places to put it with the storm before this one. So--lemon aid from that lemon.
-
Impressive snow pile. Impressive sleds. Are you starting to take bets on when the sled will hit the ground?
-

Yup
-
This one goes back to 2007. This 78 Invader I nicknamed "Clumper" due to it kicking in at 6000 rpm and it runs really good.
-
I put the red sled away. Now the 81 will stay on the snow pile until the track touches the ground. Last year at this time the track was almost touching the ground.
-
From this photo it looks like sometime in May.

It does look that way.

This is real. The "I quit" was an April fool.

Snow pile is not done yet This picture is from a few days ago. Sorry about the water mark, this one might show up someplace else.

May?
-
The track touched the ground today and I put the sled away for the season. The girl that lives here is glad to not have a sled in the yard!
-
Had one follow me home again. A 79 440 Drifter that all I had to was haul it away. I still have trouble saying no to a price like that!! Sled seems complete with a glimmer of hope for it.
