engine connector issues

I have two Invaders and one Liquifire and all three have problems with the plastic connector and the terminals on the engine side where the wire harness connects to the engine and CDI box. I am looking for a functional, reliable and efficient way to fix these connector issues and wondering if anyone has any ideas for fixes that have worked in the past.

What is the issue exactly? Does it come loose? contacts spread apart?


You can pretty much run any connectors you want in it's place!

The spade terminals are pushed back or loose in the engine side connector. The engine side connector is just worn out over the years. I have used crimp terminals on one of the Invaders and just eliminated the OEM gray plastic connector. I though there may be some thing else out there that would be a little more professional looking.

The spade connectors on the motor side have a slot in them that hold them in place by spreading the 2 sides. squeezing the 2 sides together allows the piece to be removed out the back side, kind of a spring action. They can be spread apart to make them fit tighter.

The other option would be to replace them with a different connector or individual connectors on each wire, but be sure to document which wire goes where.  I have seen quite a few connectors with wire ties holding them together (works well)

Like Jim said you can rework each terminal by tweaking the (cross cut portion cut like this " / ") to grab the plastic connector correctly again so it's held in place...

Also they are part of pretty much every wiring harness for a kawi and you can usually pick up an entire harness for 10 buck, if you need a few if they're broken or whatever

If you've had enough of working with the old connectors, you could also wire in any connector with the same amount of terminals, or just a bunch of color coded butt connectors...
