Unidentified parts 1978 invader
« on: December 17, 2015, 06:34:17 PM »
I recently picked up a 78 invader 440 (it was disassembled), and i rebuilt the motor, but in the box, there were some pieces that I can't identify. I believe there were 4 of them, but they almost resemble a crow's foot wrench? Not sure where they would go... I tried attaching pictures, but no matter what I do, it won't post. Thanks!

Are they these things you're wondering about?

They are used to shim the bolts on the mag end of the engine, once you have the engine positioned to have the clutch alignment dialed in. There are 2 bolts at that side of the motor....you simply use the shims to fill in the space on each end of the bolts when you have the clutches dialed in.
The same shims were also used to adjust the height of the jackshaft bearing carrier, right behind the driven clutch.
If this is what you're asking about, they are simply open ended washers....easier to install without having to remove the bolt and install regular washers.

75 SnoJet Astro SS, 79 Kawasaki Invader 440 (two of them), 81 Scorpion Sidewinder, 82 Blizzard 9500, 83 Yamaha Vmax 540, 97 MXZ 670....and holding...for now.
